چکیده
The Kotychi Lagoon (western Peloponnese, Greece), together with other coastal wetlands such as Pappas, Prokopos and Lamia, is part of the wider area Strofylia Wetlands National Park Protected Areas Western which has been protected by Ramsar convention since 1971 classified a Natura 2000 due to its high diversity ecological value. This study aimed estimate water surface evolution using optical remote sensing techniques record parameters indices related geometrical landscape orientation features for 1945–2016 period evaluate environmental status lagoon through in-situ measurement sample analysis. High-resolution aerial photos at scale 1:30,000, orthomosaics, satellite images were used linear regression rates (LRR) calculated determine changes. Seasonal sampling water, sediment, macrofaunal organisms in was performed monitor parameters. results showed that lagoon’s shrank during period, showing different four segments. shrinkage prevailed northeastern southern parts lagoon, 17.75 6.46 m/year, respectively. determined be poor, although nutrient input seemed have moderate over period. We conclude applying combination high-resolution constitutes an effective accurate method spatiotemporal mapping wetlands. problems highlighted confirmed complementary analyses. These need addressed respective managerial bodies order restore good status.

identifying and monitoring dust storm in the western part of iran using remote sensing techniques
mineral dust can directly affect the solar and terrestrial radiation in both visible and infrared (ir) spectral regions through scattering and absorption processes. due to specific optical properties of dust particles, satellite observed radiances carry the spectral signatures of dust particles that are different from molecular, cloud, and underlying surface. based on these differences, various...
متن کاملEnvironmental Monitoring and Assessment Remote Sensing Approach
Environmental monitoring and assessment includes a wide spectrum of study that overlaps many disciplines, all of which are independent. This paper illustrates several broad subjects related to environmental constraints including water pollution, effects of atmospheric contamination, strip mining, and natural disasters. Remote sensing can provide complementary information to existing ground-base...
متن کاملRemote Sensing and Environmental Monitoring
Remotely sensed data have two significant characteristics. Firstly, they are available in digital form, which allows them to be manipulated by computer. Secondly, they provide a range of information derived from observations made using electromagnetic radiation (EMR) with wavelengths ranging from those of the visible wavebands (0.4–0.7 μm) to the microwave region (3–30 cm). Modulation of incomi...
متن کاملInland wetlands mapping and vulnerability assessment using an integrated geographic information system and remote sensing techniques
The understanding of inland wetlands’ distribution and their level of vulnerability is important to enhance management and conservation efforts. The aim of the study was to map inland wetlands and assess their distribution pattern and vulnerability to natural and human disturbances such as climate change (temperature increase) and human activities by the year 2080. Inland wetland types i.e. for...
